The Casting Instructor Certification Program (CICP) was developed in 1992 to enhance the overall level of instruction in fly casting by increasing instructor knowledge, casting proficiency, and teaching ability. A secondary goal was to create a common understanding of casting terminology and casting mechanics that would serve the fly casting/fishing community, internationally and in North America.
One of the movers and shakers of this program was Bruce Richards. Bruce is considered one of the best fly casters in the world and he called on Ray to be an advisor to the program.
For several years Bruce and Ray taught advanced fly casting schools at the former Schmidt Outfitters in Michigan. The fly casting school at Schmidt’s was named “Best in North America” by Field and Stream magazine.
Since that time Ray has taught fly casting to groups and individuals and continues teaching privately today. Instruction on single or two handed rods.
